2 Thoughts - Uncertainty & Faith

#1: False Certainty & Faith

"Our minds prefer false certainty to uncertainty.  Faith is living in that place of uncertainty." - Matthew Kelly

I come from a family of strong independent people.

Family gatherings are often peppered with falsely certain Declarative Statements.

"Rebeca Andrade won't beat Simone Biles." (And yet she did.)

"If they get elected, they will definitely change these things."  (Campaign promises are hard to guarantee)

"The Fed will be dropping interest rates this month." (Educated wish)

As leaders, we’re encouraged to have strong opinions and to prepare for the worst - while hoping for the best. The downside is this mindset can lead our brains to habitually lean towards definitive worst-case scenarios.

The best leaders have more hope than skepticism.  Your confidence and charisma comes from your faith in the future.  Don't let the uncertainty of situations lead you to conclude the worst.

#2: One Question to Ask Yourself

What false sense of certainty is holding me back, and how can I replace it with faith in the future?
