2 Thoughts - Skill & Chance

#1: Skill & Chance

Growth demands the courage to take calculated leaps and intentional losses.

Since humans are twice as likely to make decisions based on fear of loss rather than potential gain, that makes it really hard to significantly grow

I had a client run through Jim Collins' Hedgehog and Flywheel concepts and use it to shape the conversations about their future.

Passion, skills, and economic viability define your hedgehog concept, and the flywheel helps you realize what initiatives don't drive that forward.

Look at everything you've done to this point and identify what skills have consistently shown up and sharpened over time - those things that have led to repeated success.

Then look at failures and disappointments and identify what they have in common.  Take a chance on pouring into the items that drive success  - your flywheel - and intentionally shed the shiny objects that lead to disappointing results.

#2: One Question to Ask Your Team

What business areas have shown consistent, repeatable success?
