2 Thoughts - Balance & Tension

#1: Balance & Tension

Balance is a state of equilibrium that creates stability and harmony in a system.  While “balance” is a worthy pursuit, the reality of leadership is tension. Tension is an action-reaction pair of forces that creates a state of stress within a system. The result is either growth or breakdown.

Consider these practical ways to harness this tension for more impactful results:  Be firm, but not an asshole. Tell people where the organization is going, but don’t overshare all the roadblocks. Insist on space in your calendar, without being absent from the day to day. Care about people personally, but put the good of the team first. Prioritize revenue growth, but don’t sacrifice profitability.

I loved drawing force diagrams in Engineering classes.  For my fellow math nerds - you're welcome.
