2 Thoughts - Confidence & Energy

#1: Confidence & Energy

Spanx founder Sara Blakely conceived her billion-dollar idea while selling fax machines door to door.  She kept it secret for two years as she built it, sharing only with those critical to its success.

Why?

She was passionate about the potential of her idea but knew that people - even those closest to her - would try to dissuade her from the work and effort it would require to get it off the ground.  Not from malice, but to protect her from the pain of failure.

She decided that her energy was better spent on building it than defending it.

In the early stages of a new idea, shield your confidence from skepticism.  This week I talked to a successful consultant about his journey - it took 3 years for him to gain serious traction.  There were many opportunities to let the doubt win, but he pushed forward to a thriving practice.

Both of their journeys teach us the power of safeguarding energy to create a strong environment for growth.  Find the people who will support you during the vulnerable early stages of your new adventures.

#2: One Question For You...
