2 Thoughts - Mastery & Joy

Savannah Bananas and Business

Yesterday I joined 45,000 fans to watch the Savannah Bananas play baseball at Citizens Bank Park.  It was fast-paced, choreographed chaos - music, backflips, nonstop energy. (I loved it.)  And beneath the fun was one of the most magnetic, high-performance business models I’ve ever seen.

The History of Banana Ball

#1: Stack Joy on Skill

These players aren’t just fun, they’re also world-class athletes who play an insanely fast game of great baseball.  Their joy doesn’t replace mastery, it amplifies it.  Energy like that comes from being great at what you do and being proud of it.

#2: Build What You’d Actually Buy

The Bananas start by thinking about what their customer wants to experience and then go from there.  It makes it easy to buy in. (Literally.)

#3: One Question to Ask Yourself

What's one area adding joy would benefit your business?

PS - this video captures the essence of a Banana Ball game if you're curious.
