2 Thoughts - Rockets & Reps

Earlier this week, our family gathered 'round the TV to watch a SpaceX rocket launch - an extra special one, since Benchmark Space Systems (my husband’s company) had two propulsion systems on board.

Then the Falcon 9 rocket re-landed itself again (check out minute 38 of that video). That design has now successfully landed 57 times!

Back in 2009, the idea of a reusable rocket was considered absurd.
It took 7 years to get the first one to land. Now we don’t even question it.

#1: The Power of Reps

In Tiny Habits, BJ Fogg says:

“Emotions create habits. Repetition wires them in.”

Whether it’s rockets or routines, results come from reps.  Not big bursts of effort, but consistent, small actions done daily. Quietly.  Sometimes with failure. Always with a goal.

It’s the same with leadership.  Your team doesn't need a new you, they need the steady version of you showing up on purpose.

#2: One Question to Ask Yourself

What’s one leadership habit you’ve started and stopped more often than you'd like to admit?

Shrink it.  Make it small enough to actually do every day for a week. Then build from there.
