2 Thoughts - Emotions & Evolution

#1: Emotion & Strategy

Think of your best team members and how effortless they make your life. Now, shift focus: who's consuming your time and energy? Having a few employees consume a large amount of your mental energy is a common leadership hurdle. Still - we delay tough calls, worried about hurting feelings or disrupting the team, or frankly because we just don't feel like we have the time to deal with it. Deep down you know it's a misalignment.

One of my favorite exercises with clients is to take the people out of the equation and envision your future org chart just based on roles. It shifts focus from people to business and helps remove some of the emotion.

As businesses grow, roles evolve. People who were once a perfect fit might not keep pace with the demands of a growing business. Other times, we make stretch hires that don’t pan out.  It's not just about efficiency but about aligning everyone for success in their ideal roles.

#2: One Question to Ask Yourself

What roles on my team are creating friction and need a fresh look in terms of responsibilities?
