2 Thoughts - Best & Broken

#1: Best & Broken

This week there was a startling trend to my conversations. 4 people, across 4 different organizations, told me the same story…. "I love my company, I’m really good at my job, but they’ve overloaded me so much that I am burnt out and broken."

Maybe it’s the season, maybe it’s the economy, or maybe it’s just a sad state that we leaders default to. “They’re really good. They can handle it. It’s just temporary.”

Stop overloading your top talent and making them do ALL THE THINGS. They will quit or end up in the hospital.

It’s your job as the leader to give them clear direction, align them with their superpowers, and protect them from scope creep. Imagine if your best person quit today.  How much pain would that cause you?  What's it worth for you to avoid that?

#2: One Question to Ask Your Team

If we could laser focus you on one thing, where do you think you would bring the most value to the business?
