2 Thoughts - Voices & Change

#1: Voices

Leaders often think (mistakenly) that they're supposed to have all the answers.

Then we miss out on opportunities for GREAT ideas and great questions.

Last week our Foundation board got together to plan not just this year, but the next 10.  Since our inception 3 years ago, we've proven our model: providing opportunities for high-impact individuals to give ignites a spark that turns into a bonfire of good in the world. We've done it 150 times and we want to do MORE.

As a co-founder of this charity, I often feel like I need to have the answers and guide the direction, but during this strategy session I sat back and listened.  What could we accomplish if more leaders got a chance to weigh in?

Man oh man, was I inspired.  Some crazy ideas I hadn't considered - an endowment to cover our operating expenses, local chapters across the US, 10,000 more volunteer experiences... and the list goes on.

If you are not providing opportunities for your leaders to influence the future of your organization, you are missing out.  They have brilliant ideas and the passion to bring them to life - if you would just let them!

#2: Two Questions to Ask Yourself

What's the last great idea that came up from within the ranks of my organization?  What if we could do that again?
