2 Thoughts - Owners & Drivers
Who owns it
My view on things is too simplistic. It all comes down to people. You've got a goal? One part of the plan isn't working and it's causing other parts to break down? I'm going to have a very direct question for you - who owns the broken part? Who is driving that initiative?
Fix that and the other things fix themselves.
#1: Acknowledge the problem
I was speaking to a leadership group yesterday and 1 attendee said, "My goal is simple. 3X revenue in 5 years. I'm 1 year in." I asked how the growth was going - it isn't. They have 4 more years, but the crisis is now. 1 year to fix the team, 3 years to get results.
#2: You've got 6 months
Your job as a leader is to see the big picture and fix the problems no one else can - that's often the people stress. Give yourself a deadline.
#3: Run a Team Scorecard
A quick and easy way to identify where to start is to run this 10 minute team scorecard.
