2 Thoughts - Compound Effect & Feedback

#1: The Boring Compound Effect

Small choices + consistency + time = significant results.

This weekend my husband and his business partner were honored for a career achievement at our alma mater, WPI.  They started working together in 2015, after Ryan's PhD advisor recommended they bring his thesis to market.  His thesis was a follow on to undergrad work in small satellite propulsion.  All in all, you could say their journey began 20 years ago in college.

As they received their awards I was thinking how our other classmates in the audience were NOT receiving awards - because none of us had dedicated our careers to one path.

And because they had the tenacity to stay committed to one thing over time, they have been able to design, build, and launch multiple systems into space.  Not through some heroic effort, but through dogged determination and consistent forward progress, day after day.  If you asked them, they'd say they haven't done anything special.  Because doing the same thing day after day is actually boring.  But if you want to achieve big things, then small choices + consistency + time = significant results.

#2: One Question To Ask Your Team

What's one thing I should start doing?  Stop doing?  Keep doing?

(And just listen to their responses.  No defense or rebuttal allowed!)
